Graham nets hat trick but Trailblazers fall to Lyons 20-5
North Adams, MA— Mount Holyoke received three goals and four assists from Emma Legacki as the Lyons women's lacrosse team posted a 20-5 win over the MCLA Trailblazers this afternoon at Shewcraft Field. Mount Holyoke improves to 1-1 on the season while MCLA falls to 0-2.
Mount Holyoke jumped out early to a 4-0 lead just seven minutes into the contest. Caroline Thompson started the scoring just 1:23 into the match and Ella Phillips added a marker four minutes later to put the Lyons up 2-0. Goals from Erin Foley and Lucy Stone would increase the margin to 4-0 before MCLA got on the board.
Julia Graham connected to stop the momentum and make it 4-1 but the Lyons' Foley and Emma Legacki scored to increase the lead to 6-1. From there MCLA made a nice run as Graham added her second tally and when Brooke Digennaro scored back to back goals, the Lyon lead was just 6-4.
From there, the visitors dominated the second quarter. They would outscore MCLA 8-0 over the final eight minutes to grab a sizable 14-4 lead at the half. Allie Brown scored twice in the spurt.
Mount Holyoke put the game completely out of reach on the heels of a 6-1 third quarter.
Caroline Thompson, Legacki, Erin Foley, and Lucy Stone ended with three goals apiece. Four other Lyon players posted a pair of goals. Emma Louise Tower (1-1) earned the win in goal stopping five shots.
For MCLA, they were paced by Julia Graham and Digennaro. Graham ended with three goals while Digennaro posted a pair. Lori Lester (0-2) collected six saves in goal for the Trailblazers.
MCLA will be back in action on Thursday afternoon when they host Anna Maria at 4pm.
