Urbanski leads MCLA to 7-3 win over Cazenovia
Auburndale, FL- MCLA freshman Mike Urbanski tossed six innings and the Trailblazers offense had a balanced attack in leading them to a 7-3 victory over Cazenovia at the RussMatt Invitational. Cazenovia is now 1-4 on the season while MCLA improves to 4-5 overall.
MCLA opened the scoring in the first inning as Logan Rumbolt's infield single which scored Jeff Bink for the game's first run. Antonio Archina would drive in another on an RBI groundout to make it 2-0 after one inning of play.
Cazenovia sliced the lead in half in the fourth on an RBI single by Felix Day to make it 2-1. MCLA responded though by scoring twice in the bottom half as Jake Ferrara singled home Diego Rivera to make it 3-1. Austin Rachiele's RBI bunt single brought home Logan Rumbolt to increase the lead to 4-1 through four innings of play.
The Trailblazers would add to the lead in the sixth on Ben Durland's RBI single to right field and when Christian Seariac knocked in a pair of runs, MCLA led 7-1. Cazenovia would add single runs In the seventh and eighth innings to pull within 7-3, but a key double play kept the lead comfortable for the Trailblazers.
Joe DeGroot took the loss for Cazenovia as he went 5 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs. He struck out two, but walked five.
Mike Urbanski worked six plus innings for MCLA allowing just three hits and striking out six Wildcats to improve to 2-0 on the season. He allowed two runs, but just one earned.
Austin Rachiele had a pair of hits to lead the MCLA attack. The Trailblazers outhit the Wildcats 7-6.
