Men's Soccer upended by Eastern Nazarene in Soccer Classic 2-0

North Adams, MA- Eastern Nazarene scored twice in the first half and held on the rest of the way for the 2-0 victory over the hosts this afternoon in the MCLA Soccer Classic at Shewcraft field. With the win the Lions improve to 1-1 and the Trailblazers drop to 1-1.

Eastern Nazarene opened the scoring in the 9th minute when senior Junior Olivier (Caracas, Venezuela) found teammate freshman Clide Neau (Easton, MA) who had made a run down the left side and was able to find the back of the net and give the Lions the early 1-0 advantage.

Junior Samuel Rosas (Danbury, CT) would increase the Lions lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute when he took a ball from teammate Sheelens Ostine (Quincy, MA) and put it past the keeper.

The MCLA defense settled in the rest of the way, but the Trailblazers were unable to muster any serious offensive threat.

Eastern Nazarene had a decided advantage in shots (17-5).

Lion's junior goalkeeper Eric Berg (Hadley, MA) earned his first win and shutout of the season making just 2 saves and improving to 1-1.

MCLA 's senior keeper Sam Edge (Williamstown, MA) made 8 saves in a losing effort dropping to 1-1 on the season.

Both teams will be back to action tomorrow in day two of the MCLA Soccer Classic with the Trailblazers hosting Nichols College at 2:30pm and Eastern Nazarene taking on Western Connecticut at 4:45pm.
