MCLA splits last two games, come home 3-7

Cape Coral, FL- In a game that featured a combined twelve runs, fifteen hits, six errors and seventeen runners left on base, the Trailblazers came away with their third win defeating Ohio Wesleyan.

MCLA broke their scoring brigade open in the fifth and final inning of the game, as the Trailblazers went on to mercy rule Ohio Wesleyan 10-2. The Trailblazers batted around the order scoring eight runs on six hits. The inning started when Amanda Meczywor singled to center field. Again, MCLA used their bunting to sacrifice Meczywor to second base. Abby Lucas singled to left field, putting Mezcywor 60 feet from home. Lucas moved to second on a passed ball and Samantha Barbarotta walked, loading the bases for Sierra Bailey. Bailey then doubled in two runs for the Trailblazers. Alex Romano would be hit by the pitch and Sam Boyle would reach on an infield error. Back to back RBI singles by Michaela DiNicola and Rachel Quackenbush would be all the Trailblazers would need.

Ohio Wesleyan went down 1-2-3 in the first but came back to score a run in the second and then scored again in the third inning. Sarah Flint reached on a base hit and then came around to score three batters later on an infield error. In the third, Rachael Carter started the inning with a single and was plated on Flint's double.

Quackenbush and Lucas went 2 for 3 at the plate. Quackenbush would score two of the Trailblazers runs.

Quackenbush (3-2) pitched all five innings for the Trailblazers striking out seven.  

In MCLA's last game of the spring trip, they lost to Wooster 9-3. Wooster scored three runs in the first inning and two runs in the second, third and fifth. Each of those innings Wooster scored the MCLA defense would commit an error.

MCLA could only muster up three runs in the second inning. With one out, Bailey and Shelbi Clary would both single. Romano would put down a bunt that was misplayed by the Wooster defense allowing Bailey to score from second and move Clary to third.  Romano would steal second base before DiNicola would reach base and score Clary on an infield error. With runners on first and third, DiNicola stole second which allowed Romano to score from third.  

MCLA left a total of four runners on base, two of which were in scoring position. Both Bailey and Clary went 2 for 2.

MCLA finished their trip to Fort Myers 3-7 and will head back up north where they start conference play Saturday March 29th when they travel to Worcester State for a doubleheader starting at noon.
