Softball blanked by Scranton 8-0
Clermont, FL- Scranton University's Jennifer Sweeney and Meaghan Dowdell combined on a five inning no hitter to lead the Royals to a convincing 8-0 win at the PFX games in Clermont, FL. The Royals improve to 6-2 on the season while MCLA is off to an 0-4 start.
Scranton scored a pair of runs without a hit off MCLA starter Kara Adams in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. They would add four more runs in the second highlighted by Molly Hampsey's two run double to go ahead 6-0. The Royals would two more runs in the third to close out the scoring.
Sweeney and Dowdell did the rest. The duo combined to strike out ten Trailblazers on the afternoon. Dowdell preserved the no hitter with a great play in the fourth inning when Kara Adams lined a shot up the middle, but she was able to knock it down and record the out.
Adams took the loss for MCLA going the first two innings. She surrendered six hits and 6 runs, but just three of which were earned. Morgan Watson threw the final three frames for MCLA.
