Women's Basketball defeated by Lancers on senior day 86-42
North Adams, MA—Worcester State's Gigi Lemay posted a double double of 14 points and 13 boards to lead the visiting Lancers past MCLA 86-44 tonight in MASCAC action. Worcester State improves to 11-12 on the season and sits at 6-5 in the conference. MCLA is now 1-21 overall and 1-10 in the MASCAC.
Lemay was 7-14 from the floor and collected nine of her rebounds on the offensive end. The Lancers dominated the glass as they outrebounded MCLA 60-23 in the contest.
The Lancers led 31-9 after one quarter and extended the lead to 47-22 at halftime. They were never challenged the rest of the way as they cruised home.
Four other Lancers posted double figure scoring nights. Madison Gutierrez and Simone Fiore ended with 11 points each off the bench. Katie Hurynowicz and Nyah Thomas each had 10. The Lancers shot 45% from the floor while holding MCLA to just 30% shooting.
MCLA was paced by Brooke Digennaro's team best 13 point effort. Shannon Carney ended with 10 points in the loss.
Prior to the contest, MCLA honored their three seniors in Carney, Olivia Pressley, and Emma O'Keefe.
The Trailblazers will wrap up the regular season on Friday night with a trip to Bridgewater State.
