Peabody posts double-double but Women’s Basketball falls to Framingham State, 69-43
North Adams, MA- MCLA first year Hailey Peabody scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to register her first career double-double but the Trailblazers fell to league rival Framingham State this afternoon, 69-43. With the win the Rams improve to 11-3 (3-1 MASCAC) while MCLA falls to 3-12 (0-3 MASCAC).
A pair Kristie Zator of 3-pointers would keep the Trailblazers within striking distance for much of the first quarter but the Rams would score the last four points to take a 17-10 lead into the break.
Framingham State would ride that momentum into the second quarter going on a 13-2 run that blew the game open and lead to the Rams enjoying a 34-16 halftime advantage.
MCLA would battle in the second half but were never able to dig into the Framingham State lead as the Rams cruised to a 69-43 win.
Framingham State's Katty Haidul would lead all scorers with 18 points on 9-11 shooting from the field. Katherine Haselton would add 14 points while Flannery O'Connor and Jenna Tavanese each chipped in 9 points.
Peabody's 14 points would lead the way for MCLA while Zator finished with 12 points. Senior Maddie Teta added 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Salem State will be the next opponent for both teams as the Vikings will host MCLA on Wednesday and travel to Framingham a week from today.
