Women's Soccer blanked at home 3-0 by Western New England
North Adams, MA- The Western New England women's soccer team controlled play from the get go as they cruised past MCLA 3-0 this evening in a match played at Shewcraft field. With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 5-8-1 while the Trailblazers are 2-5-3.
The Golden Bears outshot the Trailblazers 27-2 on the night and peppered MCLA keeper Megan Richardson all evening. Emma Norden scored in the 14th minute after she received a nice pass from Brooke Labrie to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage. Richardson would keep MCLA in it as the score would remain that way into halftime even though WNE outshot the Trailblazers 12-0 in the opening half of play.
The Golden Bears would extend the lead just two minutes into the second half. Maddie Morgan would collect the goal with Danielle Dixon notching the assist to make it 2-0 with still plenty of time to play. WNE would add some more insurance in the 80th minute when Gabrielle Delos would collect a loose ball in front of the MCLA net and pound it home for a 3-0 lead and ultimately the final margin.
Marissa Veilleux would earn the win in goal stopping the only two shots she saw. In another sign of controlling possession, WNE would also own a 10-0 edge in corners.
Richardson would end the night with 10 saves for MCLA.
The Trailblazers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Worcester State to continue MASCAC play.
