Amirian makes 28 saves, Women’s Soccer loses to Westfield State
NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—The MCLA Women's Soccer Team looked to extend their win streak to three games this evening when they welcomed the Westfield State Owls to Shewcraft Field. It was not to be as five different Owls picked up tallies, including two each from Kylie Tomasetti, Delaney Parker, and Morgan Berthiaume.

Five different Owls found the back of the net as Westfield State women's soccer thumped MCLA 8-0 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on the road from North Adams, Mass. on Friday night.
Kylie Tomasetti (Northborough, Mass.), Delaney Parker (Orange, Mass.), and Morgan Berthiaume (Webster, Mass.) all scored twice for the Owls, which improve to 6-3-3 overall and 3-0 in the MASCAC. Mallory Amirian (Haverhill, Mass.) made 28 saves for the Trailblazers, who drop to 2-7 on the year and 1-2 in the league.
Westfield got the scoring started inside the ninth minute as Tomasetti, the Owls first-year midfielder, collected a feed from Berthiaume to net her first of two goals on the night to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.
Berthiaume would find herself in the scoring column 16:14 into the first half, taking a pass from Parker to deposit her second marker of the season, extending the lead to 2-0.
Less than three minutes later, Tomasetti found Parker who buried her 12th goal of the season to open up a 3-0 lead and would continue to build the advantage prior to halftime.
With less than ten minutes to play in the half, Jaida Cochran (Middleboro, Mass.) lofted a shot into the penalty area that was saved by Amirian, bouncing to Paige Brandt (Woodbury, Conn.) on the rebound where she would fire home the first goal of her collegiate career, giving the Owls a 4-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Tomasetti, Berthiaume, and Parker would tack on goals, then Ryan Moran (Manchester, N.H.) punctuated the scoring flurry for the Owls with her first of the season at the 79th minute with first-year Jessi Hammes (Springfield, Ky.) recording her first collegiate point by dishing out the assist.
Parker finished with a six-point performance (two goals, two assists) while Tomasetti and Berthiaume each added two goals and an assist. Cochran and Tia Tollis (East Longmeadow, Mass.) chipped in with an assist apiece.
Sarah Fuller (Weymouth, Mass.) got the start in net for Westfield, picking up two saves while also registering her second win of the season.
The Owls generated constant pressure in the game as shown by their heavy shot total as Westfield outshot MCLA 64-3 with 37 of those shots directed on net.

On Wednesday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to John Jay College for a non-conference matchup with the Bloodhounds at Shewcraft Field. The teams will take the pitch for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
