HIGHLIGHTS
- Framingham State scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute off the foot of Ana Serrano with an assist credited to Cathryn Cooney.
- The Trailblazers would pick up an equalizer in the 25th minute. The Rams attempted to reverse field by passing the ball back to their keeper, but MCLA's Gwendolyn Duggan (Palmer, MA) thwarted the effort, forcing a turnover in the Framingham end. Duggan sent a centering pass to junior Kylie DeMaio (Roxbury, NY) just inside the 18-yard box. A Ram defender crashed down, forcing DeMaio to pass out to sophomore Catelyn Hodge (Schenectady, NY) in the penalty arc, where she fired a laser of a shot into the upper right corner before the keeper could react. The assist was DeMaio's first of the year.
- The tie was short-lived with MCLA taking the lead before the 25th minute had ended. Off the restart, Framingham immediately turned the ball over in the midfield, with senior Allie Bayer (Boring, OR) intercepting a pass and chipping it over to Duggan. The midfielder then lofted the ball ahead, and DeMaio outran a defender and took the ball into the box, deked one defender, and put a shot between another defender and the keeper, into the lower right corner of the goal. The assist was the first of the year for Hodge.
- Hodge would extend the Trailblazer lead with just over eight and a half minutes left in the first half when the Rams turned the ball over in the middle of the field, and Duggan again provided the entry pass ahead to Hodge for a one-on-one opportunity with the Framingham keeper. As the keeper left her line and dove at the ball, Hodge jumped over the keeper and then tapped the ball into the open net. The goal was Hodges' second of the game and the season, while the assist was Duggan's second of the game and the season.
- While the Rams enjoyed a 19-3 edge in second-half shots, it was DeMaio who provided the second half's lone goal. Bayer fired off a shot from about 30 yards out that the keeper stopped with her body, but couldn't control the rebound, which bounced to the right foot of the junior forward in stride for her second goal of the season and the game.
- Sophomore Destiny Alexandra Rivas (Leicester, MA) had four saves on five shots in the first half to pick up the win and improved their record to 1-1-0. Sophomore Mallory Amirian (Haverhill, MA) stopped all eight shots on net that she faced in the second half to limit the Rams to their lone goal.
