ALBANY, N.Y.— The MCLA Volleyball team took to the road this evening, traveling to Russell Sage College for a non-conference matchup with the Gators at the Robison Court at the Kahl Campus Center. The Gator's Macey Salvione was a one-person wrecking crew for the hosts, finishing with 19 points on 14 kills and five serving aces.

  • Series History: Russell Sage leads the all-time series 21-7. MCLA took their most recent meeting 3-1 on September 23, 2023, in North Adams. The teams first met on October 21, 1976, with the Gators taking that matchup at their place by a score of 2-0. The Trailblazers had won the last five meetings between the teams, dating back to October 8, 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Russell Sage took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-17.
  • The Gator's Macey Salvione led all players with 14 kills and five service aces on offense and led all players with 18 digs on defense.
  • Junior outside hitter Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) paced the Trailblazers with seven kills and tied with senior right-side Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) with a team-high 12 digs. Senior libero Ezmeralda Albright (Loves Park, IL) rounded out the trio of MCLA players with double-digit digs, finishing with ten.

On Friday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to SUNY Cobleskill for a non-conference matchup with the Fighting Tigers at the Amsler Campus Center Gym. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
