Garber Sets Program History as Volleyball Sweeps Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass.— The MCLA Volleyball Team took to the road this evening, traveling to Anna Maria College for a non-conference matchup with the AMCATs in the Fuller Activities Center. The night's highlight was Chloie Garber becoming the first Trailblazer to cross the 1000 career kill mark as MCLA swept Anna Maria 3-0.
THE BASICS:
- Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2024
- Score: MCLA 3, AMC 0
- Records: MCLA Trailblazers 4-10 (MASCAC 0-0) | Anna Maria College AMCATS 1-13 (GNAC 0-2)
- Series History: MCLA leads the all-time series 4-3. MCLA won the last meeting between the teams, 3-0, at Anna Maria on October 3, 2023. The teams first met on October 3, 1998, when AMC swept the Trailblazers 3-0 at a Clark University tri-match.
HIGHLIGHTS
- MCLA swept the meet, winning all three sets while keeping the AMCATs below the 20-point mark. The Trailblazers took the sets by scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-12.
- Senior right-side Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) entered the game needing only six kills to become the first player in program history to record her 1000th career kill. She set the mark as MCLA went up 16-9 in the second set. It was only fitting that the kill came on an assist from someone from her hometown in first-year setter Addison Decaro (Eagle River, AK).
- Garber finished with a game-high ten kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Decaro rounded out her night with a team-high 12 assists, trailing only Anna Maria's Gia Hall, who recorded 15.
- Senior libero Ezmeralda Albright (Loves Park, IL) paced all players with 12 digs, two ahead of the AMCATs' Annie Taylor's total of ten.
UP NEXT:
On Tuesday, MCLA will be back in action when they play host to Albertus Magnus for a non-conference matchup with the Falcons at the Amsler Campus Center Gym. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
